Col. Clyde Simmons who also host hunts for Condor Outfitters, Inc.Bird Hunting in South America with Condor Outfitters is one of the greatest experiences of my hunting career. I’ve hunted all over the United States and in Asia and Europe, but the hunts in Uruguay are simply the best.

Days begin with perdiz hunting over pointing dogs that is the best you’ll ever find. Full bags are almost guaranteed with 40-60 points in a leisurely hunt. After a magnificent lunch and a siesta, you enjoy unbelievable dove hunting. Bags of 200-400 are the rule in a two to three hour hunt.

Life at Villa Irene is as good as the hunting. The comfortable rooms and eucalyptus fires ensure a cozy night’s rest. The meals include steak, perdiz, superb Italian fare, and home made desserts. The local wines are great and a fine accompaniment to the meals and conversation around the fire.

The Condor staff is as great as the hunting--friendly and eager to make your stay memorable. I feel like a guest in their home, not a client.

My wife, a non-hunter has gone along with me and now looks forward to a yearly trip with me to the villa. She enjoys a morning walk with me as I hunt, shopping in Montevideo, touring, and horseback riding. The staff really goes out of their way to make sure she enjoys her stay.

So, what else can I tell you? I highly recommend you travel way down south for the premier bird hunting experience of your life.

Pat's Hunting Trip

I should have done this for my self years ago.  I love to shoot and hunt so it should have been a no brainer, but I never made the time.  I am happy to say that hunting perdiz and dove with Condor Outfitters in Uruguay is as good as it gets.   There are no 1,000 bird days when I go in July, but that is fine with me.  2400 dove in two hours or so are plenty when you know that you will be doing it again the next day at another roost.  15 perdiz in the morning also is just right.  Any more and there would not be time for another superb lunch at the estancia or cooked in the field.

The trip is long, but my work and worry stop as soon as I am met at the airport and sped through customs.  After that it is eat, sleep, eat, shoot, eat, shoot, and eat.  Every single meal is superb and the hunting that precedes or follows a meal meets my every expectation.  Condor does it right every day and every time I am fortunate enough to be able to come and join.

Uruguay was wonderful.  The dove and perdiz hunting was better than last year.  Federico was just great as always. The food was so good this year I felt it was the best I have ever experienced in a hunting lodge. It was almost like eating at "21" every night. The people at Villa Irene treated us extremely well.  Landing back in the the States and experiencing our wonderful TSA people really snaps one back to reality.  Every time I leave Argentina or Uruguay I wonder why I'm not living there.

Dove Shooters Uruguay...

Uruguay has always been a great place for Dove hunting. Dr. Ted Pawlias proved this on his seventh trip to lodge in Uruguay.

March 06 we welcomed Dr. Pawlias to our lodge for the seventh time. We opened the lodge specifically for him and his zeal for dove hunting. Over the past several years Dr. Pawlias has shot many doves while maintaining his consistency in his shooting as to volume and accuracy.

In honor of Dr. Pawlias and to thank him for being such a faithful client, we decided to let all of the future participants know of our appreciation for such an avid sportsman's accomplishment. A wreath and plaque are now prominently displayed on the dining room wall of the Lodge which documents his amazing success.

This year while at the Villa Irene, Dr. Pawlias shot 6469 doves while using only 8982 shells in the process. We shot over sunflower plantings both prior to harvesting and after as well as dove roosts and flyways.
