Tarpon grow to about 1.5-2.25m long and weigh 60-100kg. They have distinct lateral lines and shiny silver scales covering their body.
Tarpon can be found in both salt and freshwater habitats and typically ascend rivers to access freshwater marshes. They are ideally suited to inhabit a variety of waters and water conditions. Their habitats are characteristically warm, shallow, dark bodies of water with sandy bottoms.
Tarpon are considered one of the great saltwater game fishes. They are prized not only because of their great size but also because of the fight that they put up and their spectacular jumping ability.
